*RARE* Civil War Confederate Boyle Gamble & Mcfee saber bayonet with scabbard and factory marked bayonet adaptor. This bayonet is unmarked, but it conforms to known example's specifications. This bayonet is constructed with a yataghan blade that measures approx. 20.5" in length, with overall length 25.5". Measures 27.5" with scabbard. Blade is 5/16" thick. Unstopped fuller measuring 13.5". Brass hilt of flat bird's head pommel pattern. [See Hardin, AMERICAN BAYONET, p. 97, variation 3]. This also features a desirable Confederate B.G.& M bayonet adapter that completes the set. These adapters were designed to provide a lug for the barrel of rifles manufactured without an integral bayonet lug affixed to the barrel namely the front sight of 1841 "Mississippi" & "Fayetteville" rifles, measuring 1" in diameter, with following side marking although faint but visible: "BG & M / Richmond, VA/ Sept. 2, 1861" [See Hardin, p. 95]. Blade exhibits a gray patina, with areas of scattered pitting and other light blemishes. The brass hilt exhibits the correct reddish tint that is commonly encountered on Confederate brass as a result of the addition of excess copper. The bayonet is complete with its period leather and brass scabbard. the scabbard features its original brass throat with brass frog stud, and the number "31" is clearly visible on the lug. The adapter exhibits a nice patina with a few scattered blemishes. According to Hardin in The American Bayonet (page 68), only 250 of these bayonets were made in 1847 by N P Ames of Cabotville, Massachusetts. This bayonet is highly unusual in design, with a heavy brass, so-called grip and innovative attachment to the Springfield Model 1847 Musketoon. On the back of the blade is the name N P Ames and the date 1847. This Civil War era sword is in good condition. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Sword and Bayonet on Leather Hangar with scabbards. The leathers appear to be contemporary replacements. Sword measures 30.5" with a blade length of 24.5". Fullered blade with crown cartouche on ricasso area of blade. Blade edge shows some nicks/dings along with age patina, with some fine pin-prick scattered pitting. Brass handle and guard shows age patina, with wear, top of guard marked, "5/30 M. CUMBERLAND". The British Brown Bess Socket bayonet measures 20.5" with a blade length of 16.5", side of socket, right side shows two holes. S shaped mortise with ricasso having two markings that look like "8" 's. Top flat blade with fullered ones on the lower bottom area. The leather has two leather hangars to attach to a Military belt at correct angle. See photos. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Beautiful vintage piece. This has a great look to it and has been kept in good vintage condition. There may be some scratching or surface wear from age which is to be expected.
