| According to Hardin in The American Bayonet (page 68), only 250 of these bayonets were made in 1847 by N P Ames of Cabotville, Massachusetts. This bayonet is highly unusual in design, with a heavy brass, so-called grip and innovative attachment to the Springfield Model 1847 Musketoon.
