This auction is for a rare famous original antique U.S. M-1832 Artillery Short Sword w/original scabbard, marked on the sword: N.P. AMES - SPRINGFIELD - UNITED STATES - 1842 - and marked on the scabbard ball tip: J.H. - This classic weapon was made in the style of an ancient Roman Short Sword, was used in the Mexican War, in the Civil War, and up to the 1870's by the U.S. There have been some that have been dug up in Civil War Battlefields. This classic double edge short sword has the iconic American Eagle logos on the tang and both sides of the brass handle pommel, single and double fullers on both sides, a tight and solid brass handle, a little spot of micro pitting on one edge, overall still in near excellent condition for approx. 182 years old. The brass hardware on the scabbard is missing one of the rivets but overall is still in near excellent condition also. Please zoom in in all pictures for details. The sword measures 25" with a 19" blade and in the scabbard the total weight is 3 lbs. 1 oz.*No shipping to Russia, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, China, U.K., Ireland, Philippines, or other countries that prohibit importation of items considered weapons.
