This auction is for the pictured sword/saber and scabbard. It is made by Henry Wilkinson of Pall Mall London. It has other marking on it as well including "By Appointment," A serial number, a Stat of Damascus (Star of King Solomon) with a gold colored disc in the center and the initials HW. There are numerous engravings and the blade and some simple engraving on the handle as well. The blade is approximately 32.5 inches long. I am no expert on these.....I believe it's a 1845 Pattern saber made around the mid to late 1870s, and I believe this would have originally been issued to a British Calva... |
